Project Description

During the first phase of Digital Jobs KPITB has established BPO ready spaces to place 350 BPO workers. The BPO industry in the country will also benefit from this initiative, as incentives will be offered to existing and prospective BPO operators to set up their businesses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The establishment of BPO ready spaces has the following objectives:
 

  • Attracting investment and growth in the BPO sector
  • Promoting job opportunities through outsourced work.

 
Investments in the BPO sector are expected to create jobs for local youth, many of who are either unemployed or underemployed and lack opportunities.

Project Description

Durshal is a flagship project of KPITB that aims to provide Technology-Based entrepreneurship in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Durshal Expedite many startups to revolutionize into flourished business. Durshal Project envisions the digital transformation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by establishing a network of startup incubators and community spaces to facilitate the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with tech opportunities to empower them with training, enable them to get creative with innovative ideas and launch new businesses.

Durshal (meaning “gateway” in Pashto) is a technology incubator that aims to produce successful businesses by promoting a digital economy across the province. Durshal caters the freelances and startups with co-working spaces and also arranges training programs. Inculcating the training and creating opportunities for the startups ultimately leads to the creation of jobs and strengthens local economies.

Durshal aims to provide business support resources and services in the form of the Durshal incubation centers. Durshal services include business assistance that comes in the form of management guidance, technical assistance, and consulting tailored for young entrepreneurs to the provision of facilities and facility-based services such as space, shared business services, equipment, technology support services, and assistance in obtaining the financing necessary for growth.

Project Description

As the first building block of KPITB’s Digital Policy for addressing youth employment through the digital economy, “Addressing supply side constraint by building a skilled workforce”, KPITB initiated its flagship program “KP Youth Employment Program (KPYEP)”. Being Pakistan’s first digital skills platform, KPYEP connects youth with training, skills and employment opportunities, using a flexible and adaptive approach to accommodate the rapidly changing demands of the digital economy.

KP Youth Employment Program aims to empower 40,000 un and under employed youth in the province by providing a range of basic, intermediate and advance level skills in IT and linking them with employment opportunities. This will create a larger base of IT workers in the province, who can be tapped as the market develops. The program aims to reduce the industry academia skills gap by providing short courses that enhance employability in a changing economy.

In 2016 Phase 1 of KPYEP commenced and equipped 2100 youth from the province with digital skills of the future, out of which 30% had successfully started earning online through different freelancing platforms. As per the updates of September 14, 2018, a total of 7658 youth had been equipped with different digital skills under phase 2, out of which 5200 had successfully completed their assessments.
